At Plastrans Technologies, sustainability and innovation are at the core of everything we do. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a guiding framework for our strategic actions, enabling us to measure and communicate our contribution to a more sustainable and circular bioeconomy. In 2025, Plastrans made significant progress in advancing three key SDGs: SDG\u202f9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG\u202f14: Life Below Water, and SDG\u202f17.16: Partnerships for the Goals.<\/p>\n

SDG\u202f9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2025, Plastrans actively contributed to SDG\u202f9 by fostering industrial innovation and sustainable manufacturing practices. Through our strategic collaboration with CO\u2082BioClean, we supported the development of decentralized value creation systems that convert industrial CO\u2082 emissions into biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). This initiative exemplifies a circular approach to industrial production, where waste streams are transformed into valuable, sustainable materials.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, our partnership with BioLogiQ brought plant-based biopolymer solutions, including NuPlastiQ\u00ae, to European markets. Utilizing BioLogiQ\u2019s proprietary iQ\u2122 technology, we enabled sustainable alternatives across multiple applications, ranging from packaging to rigid plastics. Complementing these innovations, we actively promote the use of biobased feedstocks that are compatible with existing recycling streams, working toward the development of biobased recycled materials. These efforts not only advance industrial resilience but also reduce environmental impact, supporting a transition toward a bio-based and CO\u2082-based circular economy.<\/p>\n

SDG\u202f14: Life Below Water<\/em><\/p>\n

Plastrans Technologies contributes to SDG\u202f14 by reducing pollution risks and preventing plastics from entering freshwater and marine ecosystems. In 2025, we prioritized the substitution of conventional plastics with biodegradable alternatives. As one of the few suppliers in Europe offering a full range of commercially available biopolymers, we provide solutions for industries including packaging, construction, consumer goods, agriculture, medical equipment, and technical parts.<\/p>\n

Our approach goes beyond the inherent biodegradability of materials. By collaborating with technology partners whose products carry recognized environmental certifications and applying industry standards for biodegradability, we ensure that materials are used responsibly throughout their lifecycle. This not only minimizes persistent residues but also helps replace products that would otherwise be prone to littering or environmental leakage.<\/p>\n

SDG\u202f17.16: Partnerships for the Goals<\/em><\/p>\n

In line with SDG\u202f17.16, Plastrans strengthened multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance sustainable development and the circular bioeconomy. In 2025, we actively participated in initiatives with European Bioplastics, the Kunststoff Cluster, and the Bioeconomy Austria Network, among others. These collaborations allow us to share technical expertise, sustainable polymer technologies, and best practices with stakeholders across industry, NGOs, and policy sectors.<\/p>\n

Through these partnerships, Plastrans promotes the adoption of bio-based and biodegradable materials, supporting the transition toward a bio-based circular economy in both developed and emerging markets. These cooperative efforts amplify our impact and ensure that the benefits of sustainable materials reach a broader ecosystem of stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The UN Sustainable Development Goals remain central to Plastrans\u2019 mission, providing a framework to assess and expand our contributions to society and the environment. In 2025, our work on SDG\u202f9, SDG\u202f14, and SDG\u202f17.16 demonstrates how innovation, sustainable materials, and strategic partnerships can converge to drive measurable progress.
