Bioplastics are plastic materials produced from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, tapioca starch, potato starch, straw, sugarcane, recycled food waste, cellulose, etc.<\/p>\n

Some fossil-based polymers are also called bioplastics due to their ability to biodegrade. This leads us to three main categories of Biopolymers based on their source and biodegradability aspect, bio-based polymers with no biodegradability aspect, bio-based and biodegradable biopolymers, and fossil-based biodegradable polymers.<\/p>\n

Finally, bioplastics consist of a large family of materials with varying properties and applications. Essentially, the materials are biobased, biodegradable, or both.<\/p>\n
